Who Is Joe?

Joe is an average Joe who started trading and investing back in the late '90s. He opened an online account and learned about traditional methods of investing from library books and financial magazines. What he didn't know was that the methodology and strategies he had learned were pretty much worthless. When the dot-com bubble burst, he didn't even know it was happening and kept buying stocks as they went lower! (Shouldn't you buy low and sell high?)

Joe was experiencing his first market crash and bear market, but the books and magazines he had read hadn't prepared him for what to do.

At the end of 2000, Joe only had about $2,000 left in his brokerage account. He angrily swore he would NEVER trade or invest again.

Fast forward to 2018. Joe was sick at home, mindlessly following video recommendations on YouTube, when he saw a video about trading. The information in the video was not helpful, but it started Joe wondering if it were possible to learn how to trade and invest profitably.

And so began a six-year journey of reading, watching, and most importantly practicing different strategies and approaches to trading.

Every day he listened to trading podcasts, some of which were helpful, many of which were full of confusing content, and of course the obligatory get-rich-quick scam (“Buy my super-duper trading system and make millions!”). He also bought many books on trading, most of which were filled with technical gobbledygook that was boring and not practical nor profitable.

But this process kept him narrowing down what he was looking for. And when he finally found it, he knew it would change his life.

Having been an award-winning high school teacher, Joe started thinking about how he could make trading and its concepts easier to understand and learn.
